The first interstate branch opened at Mount Vernon National Bank in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Thursday and will open up to five days later.
The bank says it has opened more than $1 billion worth of new banking accounts in the US and is working to get more people online in the coming months.
“We’re excited to be opening up more first interstate branches and will have additional branches open in the future,” David Mazzuca, senior vice president of customer service, told ABC News.
“We want to make sure that every person who’s coming into our bank account is eligible to get started online and that they’re ready to access their bank account as soon as they come in.”
Mazzuca said the bank is opening up to 500 branches across the US, but did not give a specific count.
He said the first branch opened for new customers at Mount Pleasant National Bank at 1 p.m.
Thursday and that it will open from 1:30 p.d. to 5 p.c.m on Friday.
“They’ll open up in the same day and we’ll be able to go online immediately, just like the rest of the country,” Mazzucci said.
“So if you’re on the east coast or west coast, you can access your account within the hour.”
Mazur said customers can expect to receive an email from the bank within 24 hours.
Mazzucci also said the number of people who have been able to open a bank account at Mount Vesuvius National Bank was more than double the number who had been able at other first-in-the-nation banks.
The first branch opens at 7 a.m., with the rest opening at 10 a.k. and 1 p:m.
Mazulich said customers will be able access their account from their smartphones or tablet devices.
Macek Jokic, a spokesperson for Mt Vesuvians National Bank, said the new bank is the largest first-ever opening in the country.
The new bank will be located in the northeast corner of the state and will be open from 9 a.g. to 2 p.g., the bank said.
“When you walk in, you get a little glass box that looks like a phone booth,” Macek said.
Mike Johnson, a first-time customer, said he was initially skeptical when he first saw the opening, but decided to open up.
“I like opening up my accounts, so I went in and it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh,'” Johnson said.
He said he also received a $100 gift card for opening a first time account.
Johnson said the opening was a great sign for the country’s banking industry, and added that people will be seeing a lot more online banking.
“The amount of money that is being sent online is just phenomenal, and it really changes how you do business,” Johnson said, adding that he believes the bank will open more branches in the near future.
Moses Moshabadi, who works for the Mt Vesuvas branch, said it is a sign of things to come.
“It shows that we are growing the economy,” Moshabaidi said.
He added that Mt Vesuuvas will open a second branch later this week.
Moshabaadi said the branch opened on the weekend and he will be making calls to customers as soon he sees the opening.
Museums and other locations are expected to open more locations for the bank over the coming weeks.
Mitch Boggs, the general manager of the Mt.
Vesuvs National Bank branch, told CBS affiliate WECT that he thinks the bank opened in an ideal location.
“If you live in New England or the Northeast, you are a big part of the economy, so we’re seeing a huge impact here in New Hampshire,” Boggis said.
